That seems like an outdated practice, what with new vaccines and herd immunity in the population.

There is a chance you won't be positive anymore, OP. Saline rinses, as PP said, right before your swab.

Yeah, I'm surprised any cruise line is still doing this. Whoever was in charge of sending out that email might have just done a copy/paste of an old email and forgot to edit out that part.

I'm going on a cruise tomorrow and there is no covid testing required.

When did your cold symptoms start? Maybe you will be testing negative before then. But how do they test. Will they be watching you swab or do you just self-report?

Check the cruise policy too. They won’t give you a refund, but they may let you rebook.

Have had a cold for a few days. Pretty minor. I am going on a cruise that leaves Friday (but traveling on Thurs) and I just received the boarding instruction that we will have to test for COVID before boarding. After reading that, I figured I'd take a quick COVID test and.....I'm positive! Yikes, this is a total bummer! Is there ANY chance I will be negative by Thursday/ Friday? Checking my travel insurance now to see how much time I have to cancel, but would still love to go if at all possible.
