B-CC doesn't want to be considered a "W" so they hide data so they look worse.

Yes. Not enough AP takers.

So low-performing students?

No.

There are high performers who never take AP. Including those who are in Dual Enrollment or IB. My DD is in all Dual enrollment this year so she naturally has fewer APs on her record than some other seniors.

There are low performers taking AP because it’s open to all.

Since AP Honor Roll is dependent in part on getting more kids to take AP classes, making AP open to all and allowing the so-called "low performers" to take AP actually helps a school make AP honor roll.

Also, many kids at BCC in the IB program only take IB tests (instead of IB and related AP) because they are applying to foreign universities who don't care about AP test scores.

See update above. BCC made the AP Honor Roll. The initial list didn’t include it because some of the data was missing.

Not necessarily. Many are in the IB program and don’t take AP classes/tests.

The principal said at the PTSA meeting last eeek that some of the data from BCC hadn’t been submitted (in error). That has now been fixed and BCC is on the list.

Probably paperwork error. Wootton was missing from the first list but added to the updated list yesterday.

B-CC Earns Gold Recognition for AP School Honor Roll 2023
Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School was named to the 2023 AP School Honor Roll! The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools who AP program are delivering results and broadening access for students.
Schools can earn the Honor Roll recognition annually based on their ability to increase their school’s college-going culture, to provide opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness. The AP School Honor Roll offers four levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.
B-CC had 72% of seniors who took at least one AP exam during high school, 57% of seniors scoring a three or higher on at least one AP exam, and 24% of seniors who took five or more AP exams!

Weird. Why does the AP document not list them at all?

RMIB kids take AP tests, too. They take both AP and IB, and many take like more than 2+ APs per year. My non IB freshman took two AP tests.
