Subject: How much $ have you put into your house
Paid $450. Put $15k. $12k for 2 bathrooms and we got ripped off about $3k on one of them with a bad contractor. Still need $120k worth of work. Old house that needs overhaul.

I assume you're addressing this to me. The maintenance is not required, rather it's optional. Things like refinishing the deck. Painting the outside of the house. This is not an annual cost, we just chose to do it now rather than have it be deferred maintenance and a more expensive problem later on down the line.

Rowhouse bought 4 years ago, property value has increased about 15% since we bought.
Total home improvement $ is about 17k. That includes new HVAC, sump pump, and a few little odds and ends.

Just the location, mostly. We’re on the Hill, in a part that was less popular when we bought. But we also dug out our basement, so we increased our living space by 50 percent. House is so much more livable now.
