Could that be the insertion point of your left QL? I had a terrible muscle injury with my QL that made my entire pelvis shift to one side before I finally got help. The other muscles in that area were super sore, too, and I developed pseudo-sciatica. All that is to say: Don’t ignore it if the pain hasn’t gone away within a week. Physiotherapy helped un-crunch that side, and stretching plus swimming have helped maintain ever since.

Acupuncture or physio works for me.

Dry needling might help. It doesn’t hurt.

It’s probably a muscle spasm. It just takes time.

I agree on the recommendation for a manual physical therapist. Or, some chiropractors. (The ones that have a sports medicine bent tend to be better.)

Could you have a kidney stone?

Go see a manual physical therapist and get an accurate diagnoses. The work with them, along with rest, ibuprofen, ice, and time

I've had herniated discs before and it is definitely not that kind of pain. The pain is below my left angel wing and closer to my spinal column, if that makes sense. There is no constant pain like theobbing or aching. It's only when I engage those muscles in that location that it can be excruciating. But unfortunately that can be a lot of movements. Breathing can hurt. Sneezing and coughing hurt a lot. Anything similar to a golf type of swing or you are bent over and contract your back to lift something up hurts a lot too.

Is this just something like a lat strain near where it originates on the spinal column? Can you injure lat tendons? Or is it muscles below your lats? Is there anything to do except wait longer? I've been doing light stretches and very light weights to stretch the area and keep it moving. It's just not healing.
