I’ve heard directly from multiple sources that the younger girls coaches at McLean recruit players without them reaching out.

They can be sanctioned by MSYSA (Maryland State Youth Soccer Association), so if they are recruiting put of season, report them. Assuming VA has something similar

I reached out to a club we wanted to go to and the Coach emphasized to me that he did not recruit my kid and that we wanted to join his team. Otherwise, there seems to be no established rules, some recruit but I haven’t seen blatant out in the open recruiting.

Which clubs recruit most?

We were at a small club and our kid was approached a few times by other small clubs and this really annoyed our coach. He said that the rule of thumb was that coaches should not approach another parent/player first. Once a player/parent has expressed interest with the club, then they were fair game for further recruiting contact.

The club who’s key player gets stolen frowns on it. The club who gets a key player laughs at the other coach and club. This only applies to a top 1 or 2 player not the ROT(rest of the team)players.
