A regulation ball of size 5 must have an air pressure of between 8.5 and 15.6 PSI (pounds per square inch). A regulation ball is one that is designated eligible by FIFA for match play.

PSI is "per square inch". In these terms, one PSI is equal to one pound.

I’ve never checked the psi. Kids simply do a bounce/squeeze test. So, this is off topic, but to help with losing balls, I always buy bright colored ones or at least never primary white.

Pretty sure all cheap balls bulge sooner rather than later. They are cheap for a reason

I googled this and saw that 8.7 was standard but it seems to be too much for the cheap balls we have. They end up having a small bulge or the seams break fast.

What PSI are you pumping your kids soccer balls? I prefer to buy cheap balls as they tend to get lost regularly.
