We told the coach that we could pay $40K / year and our son would take $5K in loans per year.
We went back and forth a few time but when he found out we qualified for FA, he gave us what we asked for because he realized the $40k was a stretch.
Btw FA disappeared when we got a scholarship.
Also he increased FA senior year and 2 years of grad school.

My DS was never asked that question. I imagine the coach is looking at the extremes…Are you willing/able to pay for most of the tuition or do you need full financial aid?

Strange. My kid was never asked that and most of the coaches he’s been in conversation with are at privates 75-85k.

A college coach asked my DC this question after DC emailed him. Ideally we would like to get some sports scholarship but we can fork out $40k a year or so and are willing to pay more if it’s a top school. DC just wants to play D1 or D3. Grades are above 3.5 so far. Career interests include business and kinesiology. How would you respond to this question? Thanks for any feedback.
