Subject: Re:Identical scores for English and Math on PSAT
You're overthinking this: there's no problem with having a 800/800; there is with having a 300/300. Similarly, 600/600 is better than 500/600 and worse than 700/600. And it's fine for someone to be interested in pursuing a topic even if it's not their strongest area. You could be someone who does great in HS math but wants to be a writer and not take college math. In that case, the admissions office might care about their writing sample and not care about their math score as much.

Any high achieving student is going to have similar scores. It's not abnormal.

He took the SAT twice:
Time 1 - 700 / 700
Time 2 - 750 / 750
What it tells an admission's committee. He is good at taking standardized tests
It also tells them that academically he is balanced, an all rounder. Well done. Fantastic scores.

Why would there be anything wrong with having the same score in both sections?

Subject: Identical scores for English and Math on PSAT
Sophomore DD took the PSAT for the first time this year. She got a good score but I thought it was interesting that her scores in Math and English were identical. Anyone else? She wants to do something STEM related and I wonder how this might be viewed by admissions. Her standardized scores in both subjects have been tracking closer and closer in recent years and I think she will perform similarly on the SAT. Thanks.
