Free version of Life 360 (2 of us have iPhones 2 of us have Androids).

+1 My kid shares location on occasion when I ask. For example, when he's riding his bike at night because I worry until he gets to his destination or returns home. Otherwise, no spying on my 16 year old.

I have life 360 ( free version) for my 11yo and if she’s in a car it tells me how fast she is going. If she’s on foot it says if she moving or not.

This. Kids are now 17 and 20. Plus DH tossed AirTags in all of our cars, in the event they get stolen (and they’ve come in handy a few times when we forgot where we parked!) so we could theoretically find the car in an emergency if we needed to. We do not check our kids’ locations routinely.

We have both too and I rarely check, only when kid is running late and can't be reached.

We have both. Sometimes "Find My..." bugs out. Sometimes Life360 bugs out. I only check them when my kid is out on his own and I want to make sure he's arrived safely.

Depends on what level of surveillance you want -- Find My is just going to tell you where their phone is. Life 360 is going to give you driving reports, history of location, more info than Find my.

I use both for my 13 year old. They have slightly different features.
