CVS is awful with this. I get a refill of a medication I take every 3 months. Every 3 months when I request the refill online I always get the message that it is on back order and have to wait a week or more. And then when the medication comes in they don’t automatically refill the prescription. It’s a relatively common medication, although I’m not sure about the dosage, but it is always out of stock. It’s so frustrating.

One of the prescriptions is for a sleeping pill, so I can't just transfer, not even to another cvs that had it in stock...If I don't sleep for a few days, it is not a disaster. But it is very concerning that patients would lack access to their prescriptions for so long (effectively 5 days! They might have the meds ready Mo night - but they keep pushing out the time of day when a pickup is ready, so unless one wants to call repeatedly, it's better to go the next day). How is it possible they consider Friday part of the weekend, and not a business day? I also think pharmacies should receive medication deliveries on Sat/Sun - so all of this is incomprehensible to me.

Another person who plans to stop using CVS. Will most likely switch to Safeway. Have also used an independent pharmacy, I would use them all the time except they aren't convenient at all.

We no longer use cvs for anything we don't shop there don't get our meds from there they're a total rip off. They're rude and never have the right meds anyway plus you can get a person on the phone who won't hang up on you. They should be out of business by now.

FWIW my private GREAT pharmacy (family run) is very up front when they cannot fill a prescription due to supply issues. It does happen.

Another one to pile on about how horrible CVS is. Last week they sent me two messages "RX ready, come get it." then "RX ready, are you coming to get it today?" I went that day and it wasn't ready. It was on hold because my insurance wanted to fill a 90 day supply. Fine, but why send me messages it's ready? They were rude and uncooperative and had no sympathy that this is a waste of time for people.

I refuse to step in to a CVS. Worst service ever.

If you need it sooner, see if they can find it at another nearby location. They have been horrible lately.

Not sure what is behind it all but there is apparently and known issue w/ stock shortages throughout the CVS pharma in the DMV. We needed a common antibiotic for DS ear infection 3 weeks ago and they didn't have it or know when they would. We called the Dr back and had them sent it to a nearby Safeway and got it the next day. And then yesterday, out of the blue, I got a text from CVS saying that the prescription was now ready... glad we didn't wait.

My advice would be to transfer but not to another CVS, at least for now.

I’ve had the problem with delayed prescriptions for my son a few times. Each time I called the CVS that was out of stock and they were able to tell me what CVS pharmacy nearby had it and transferred it there. They also told me which CVS near me is the largest and most likely to have prescriptions in stock. If you’re near Bethesda, it’s the Cabin John CVS.

CVS is the worst!!! They are so incompetent. pharmacies at the grocery store are much better.

CVS has been awful lately. The pharmacy is extremely short staffed near me and it took two days and many hours in lines to get a much needed antibiotic (that they had in stock!) recently. I'd see if they can transfer the prescription to another CVS that might have it in stock?

I get medication every month from CVS. Today, I received a text for a couple of the prescriptions that "We should have it in a few days". It used to be that they got out of stock meds (pretty ordinary medications) the next day. Upon calling, it appears that CVS no longer accept deliveries on Fridays (it's now part of their weekend) and therefore I may have to wait until Tuesday to be able to pick up (they receive orders by 4pm and by the time they have filled it it may be too late for pick up on Monday). How is this possible?
