I'm in the camp that the public should see. This is supposed to be a free, open society. Mamie Till had the right idea nearly 70 years ago.

I'm also in the camp that nothing will change. The politicians don't care. They are pathetic, broken people who only care about staying in office.

The gun nuts don't care. They think it won't happen to them. They think they're keeping the government in check. Many of them will acknowledge that MOST homes are more unsafe with guns in them, but THEIR homes are more safe because they are smart, responsible, and have excellent firearm skills.

Not graphic enough. I’m in the camp that the public needs to see these photos. I don’t know if I’m right but I’m so desperate for change I would look at anything if it would move the needle.

If anti-abortion activists are allowed to display blown-up photos of purportedly aborted fetuses, then I think it is reasonable to post the AR-15 carnage photos in public spaces like in front of the WH. And not just photos of the aftermath, but Emmett Till type photos if at all possible. (As a parent, I get that no parent of a massacred child would allow it, but I almost think that's what it would take to change things).

I don’t agree with just posting them in public places because trauma survivors and young children shouldn’t be exposed to graphic photos, but damn, any voter who is not already traumatized shouldn’t be allowed to look away. The politicians who have the power to regulate gun ownership in America should absolutely have to see and have intimate knowledge of the carnage inflicted by high capacity weapons.

Yep. This is America. The 2nd Amendment is the most important. Second is forcing females to give birth under any circumstance without any additional support once given birth. And no sympathy if your child dies in a mass shooting due to the most important Amendment. In fact, they might harass you and claim you’re an actor.

Too many gun nuts get to play pretend that AR15 guns don’t do anything special. Literally on this site in the last three months or so, one of those ignoramuses was arguing that there’s nothing especially bad about the wounds from these weapons, even though the doctors who have had to treat these wounds talk about the massive damage they do, in part from “cavitation.”

The GOP wants us all scared and cowering.

Today's WP front page features an extensive collection of never-before-seen photos from mass shooting scenes in the US including Uvalde, Las Vegas, Aurora, and others. They requested photos from many more mass shooting sites but were denied them. There are no bloodied dead bodies to see (I sometimes wish there were because it would drive the point home more effectively), but there are quite a few of the aftermath of the massacres after bodies were removed. The scenes from classrooms are the most poignant and shocking.

In other countries these photos might be tame, but in this country they are shocking. I'm hoping there's no paywall (I can't tell because I'm a subscriber) so that those that need to see the photos will take a look. I find it ironic that both the Israeli and Hammas authorities use graphic photos to create support for their respective sides, but that we in this country avoid such photos, even though we are one of the most violent countries in the world.
