Unlike what other posters say, wrapped cheese can and does get moldy, and it's not photogenic, even if it can be eaten (but maybe not all types of mold).

If you're composing a fancy cheese board for your event, buy the cheese 1-3 days in advance.

Hard cheese, or anything well sealed, will be fine.

The only possible issue would be with soft fresh cheeses, especially if they have mixed-in ingredients like fresh herbs or chopped fresh fruit. Even those I expect would be fine as long as they are well packaged, but I'd be a little more hesitant about holding them a week+.

Have you never eaten cheese before? Of course Thursday is fine for a Saturday dinner. Thursday is fine for next month if you buy the right kind of cheese.

Cannot believe this is a question. Have you never bought cheese?

Good cheese is aged months. Why would a week make a difference?

This Saturday? Or course it's fine to buy it now. Or do you mean the 25th? Even if it's over a week away, just keep it wrapped and don't open it and you will be fine.

Cheese keeps for a very long time in the fridge, if it's sealed. If it's from the deli, less so.
