This. Take it and work from home 2 days a week. 5 days is a ton especially with a family and activities.

Yes, no brainer with a higher guaranteed base comp. If we do get a mild recession next year, bonuses will be the first thing to get cut. Then headcount is next.

Is commute the same length? Any difference in benefits, 401K match, company contribution to health insurance, will new company match current annual leave, etc.? I'd want to compare the full suite of benefits side by side.

Current job in dc is 205k salary plus bonus up to $100k (sales so bonus depends on year). 5 days a week in office.

I am thinking 55k increase in salary to stay in same industry and city is worth leaving my current role, moving jobs and company is question-would it be worth the move to change for this amount of money?

Again sorry I realize I was unclear!

Yes this is a no brainer.

Can your current company match the offer? I’ve put an offer letter (redacted company info but obvi left salary and other info) in front of a manager and said something to the effect of I was recruited for a role and received an offer after going through the interview process. I would like to stay yada yada but can’t turn down that type of salary increase/title change and would need current company to match the offer. They may come back with a good counter. And if they don’t you can decide to take what they are offering or leave. But if you’re done with your current company then leave. I personally prefer the bulk of comp to be in base pay because it’s guaranteed. Also 4 days in office is better than 5.

If I had a 2.75% interest rate and was moving to LA, SF, NYC, or Miami that salary hike probably would not be enough recreate my quality of life.

Also do you have kids or a spouse? It would take like earth shattering money to get me to move and I don’t even love where I live (nyc metro).

No way, depends on where and how far.

Before you decide, do a full COL analysis. Consider all sources of income not just salary as well as taxation policies of the new locale. Google makes this research fairly easy and quick to do. If it still makes sense for you and the new job also appeals to you for other reasons, go for it.

Depends. There are so many factors at play here. How much will you really see after taxes? Do you like where you live? What are COL differences? What will the cost of a move be? Can you find employment in new area at same salary if you don't like this job? Do you have kids? Can you find another job like this in your area? Do you WANT to move to this new place anyway? And... have you been really pushing your current company to pay you more and they refuse?

Are you single? Do you own a house? Is this to another state, or just "moving" to another job? I'd definitely move for that as a single person but there are more factors to consider if there's another person's job and/or kids to consider.

Position seems like a lateral move but with slightly more mgmt responsibility and mgmt visibility so I am leaning to take it as salary is more and I feel like this salary increase could advance me in future. The most pay raise I received in last 5 years was a total of $5000 increase so this is big for me

Current bonus structure I get could be more than the new role but bonus is never guaranteed like the salary.

Am I thinking about this correctly?
