Three have been mentioned here: WJ, Seneca Valley, and Clarksburg. Are there others?

Principals rarely used to leave mid-year. Now it happens on the regular. Someone better figure out how to stop the bleeding. Not sure who they're going to find to fill all these jobs.

There are what, 220 schools? Retire after 30 years, so figure 5 or 10 every year - if they last that long. Career changes/promotions to CO make more principal vacancies. (It's DCUM so I have to add: Sex scandals even more.)

Mirror mirror on the wall, how many principals will retire this fall?

Exactly. People are so pressed on here.

I don’t know details but I was told he was retiring before the walkout. He went public after it, maybe to avoid people calling for his head? I think it was poor judgement but I don’t think it led to his leaving.
I don’t know who will replace all these quitting principals. PTAs should pay close attention because I think a lot of sh*tty, many-times-rejected people wanting a promotion to high school may otherwise get those jobs.

Fleeing a sinking ship.

The brain drain in MCPS started with teachers and has spread to admin.

I'm sure it's no coincidence that both retired after high profile media incidents that shed light on the cabal that is mcps.

MCPS is a disaster and nobody wants to work here. Everyone is miserable, so those who can retire are getting out as soon as they can and not one day later.

Yes. As much as I complain about MCPS high school principals, I can also see how they're totally set up to fail and how it's such a thankless job. The thing is, when it comes to leadership in schools, you can't be in the business of pleasing everybody, but you also can't afford to piss everybody off all the time. It's a hellish tightrope to walk.
