How do you do strength training with one set of weights? What I use for my upper body are not enough for my lower body. You may need to add some weights if are going to commit.

Hope you can figure out the pull up bar. You said you have thicker moulding on the door frames, so I guess it's not an option. But I got such a workout benefit from just having a pull up bar mounted above a door.

There's a ton of youtube videos that you could try. Juice & Toya and HASfit are both male/female that workout side by side. A lot of the videos are bodyweight.

However, if you stick with a home workout, I would probably have several options for dumb bells for both of you.

Especially if you beginning, you can do a lot with bodyweight exercises:

And there are ways to adjust them to make them easier or harder. For example, here are 33 pushup variations. The easiest are doable by anyone; the hardest will challenge even professional athletes:

I agree but n peloton app (there is a free trial period so no commitment if it is not your thing) and also more weights—you’ll need heavier/lighter for different exercises even as you get started.

Peloton app is only $13/month. Tons of great strength workouts, including bodyweight. I think you would do better with another one or two pair of hand weights, too.

I wouldn’t spend too much time on crunches or bicep curls. Do a few minutes of planks on the off days.

No need to buy workout programs. Best bet is google “full body home workout”

Lot of good Youtube workouts. Search the same keywords above.

I agree this makes sense to check YouTube. I didn’t want to get in a situation where they require more equipment than we have now.

Stopping and starting, frustration as we set off.

Lots of good ideas overall on these answers!

Street Parking is a fun way to get in strength-based exercise as a beginner.

Get the peloton app and Join the “hardcore on the floor” group on Facebook or Instagram. They put together a calendar of peloton strength exercises that takes the guesswork out of it. Pair with some outdoor cardio (walks, runs etc), you can also find on the app. I also recommend the crush your core program on peloton bc a strong core is the foundation you need for all these things.

Try the peloton app. They have so many great workouts that you can do from home including body weight workouts.

Also we have push-up rings. They help my hands that’s for sure.

The goal: DH and I want to do weights and strength training at home. Every 3 days. So 1 guy, 1 gal, working out together, but parallel.

The resources: we decided to start with what we have.

one pair free weights that are too heavy for dw, good for DH. One pair free weights that are opposite (good for DW, too light for DH)

Rowing machine

Bodies. -I used to have some resistance gear. Maybe we have it, can’t find for now. But you know, push-ups, crunches etc.

Add’l resources: If we prove we can keep it up, we said we’d be willing to spend on:
Maybe a gym pass and pre-made lifting workouts (like in a book or app)
Maybe more weights at home
Bands or a pull up bar (any tips on the bar? We used to have one but our current home has thicker moulding on door frames)

What do we do for full body as it stands this week? Before we add more resources.

Is there a workout book you’d recommend as well?
