What in the world is going on today? I'm so discouraged seeing these two emails just a few hours apart from my kids' schools. While I'm grateful for the people doing the right thing and notifying the authorities about these threats, this is getting to be too much.
1:
On Monday, November 13th, a JWMS parent reported an explicit threat of a school shooting to school administration. The threat was allegedly made by a 7th grade student over the weekend and on social media.
JWMS school administration acted immediately, this morning, and reported it to Rockville City Police as well as the MCPS Safety and Security Team and the district office. The police followed up on this information, made contact with the family, and found that the student has no access to firearms. After further speaking with the family, it was determined that there was no credible threat of a school shooting.

Dear Richard Montgomery Community,
Close to dismissal today, it was reported to administration that a student may be in possession of a weapon. We immediately notified police who arrived at our school quickly and were able to meet with the student in question. Police did not find any weapons during this interview or search. The quick response of our staff and the police ensured an on time and safe dismissal.
A security search of the building was also conducted and no items of concern were located.
