This.
I often see people with those flat carts taking out cases of water, mangonadas, bottles of oil, sacks of flour, sugar, etc. They are either mom and pop restaurant or food truck owners.

Small business owners such as a salon owner who offers customers a bottle of water for free while they are getting their hair done. Having a table at a fair or market and giving away bottles of water to those that visit their table. A school event. So many reasons why someone would buy water bottles. Such a weird thing to post about.

My impression was these customers were not buying water for homeless shelters. But if they were supplying homeless shelters - why pay money for bottled water? Spend the money on food. Drink water from the tap. That's what we do at our home. Besides the plastic waste, there must be a better way.

There was huge line of people buying the 40 packs of Deer Park small water bottles. Costco does t have limits. Some people buying 4 or 5 packs of these 40 packs.

Why are people hoarding water? Do they only drink water from plastic bottles?

Is this a cultural issue? This is a first world country and you can drink water from the taps - except maybe in Flint MI?

These were not parents paying for the baseball team or for landscapers working in hot temps.

How do you know that these were not parents….or landscapers? I’m not suggesting that you’re wrong — I’m just curious re: how you would know .

I drink bottled water because my tap water often tastes and/or smells funny, even using a pitcher filter. Water is my splurge.

Homeless shelters.

There was a guy i saw last year who purchased palates of pumpkin pies and it was going towards a Thanksgiving meal giveaway for poor families.
