I don't know the names of the kids on my kid's soccer team. I don't think that's disrespectful. I don't care other parent's don't know the name of my kid.

srly, we are all just trying to get by, we have full time jobs, no help, several kids activit(ies). Take a chill pill please! My cognitive load is already too high to add "memorize kids names" to it.

A lot of people are bad with names (including me). Putting them on the spot can make it worse. Once, well into the school year, I went up to ask my favorite teacher a question and blanked on her name.

You may have spent those eight weeks absorbed in the game and learning everyone’s name, good for you. She may have been focused just on her kid, or just trying to follow the game (especially if she’s not very familiar with it). She may have been chatting with the other parents, catching up on work, napping, checking in with other family members, etc., not realizing she’d have to be ready for a pop quiz on the players’ names.

A lot of people laugh as a stress reaction, laughing when nervous, frustrated, etc. Or, she may have been laughing at herself for how bad her memory is.

You make her sound line a villain cackling triumphantly over her evil plan to not remember your daughter’s name. I think it much more likely that she was embarrassed/frustrated by not being able to answer.

Moreover, there were apparently 2 girls in question. They may have been talking about the other girl at that moment and not your daughter at all. It sounds like he was posing the question generally, and this woman gave the most accurate response she could, even if it wasn’t helpful. Since you were in earshot, and apparently knew everyone’s name, why didn’t you do something positive and supply the name doe both girls. This would have helped the dad who was trying to help the team (including your daughter), and would have allowed you to demonstrate your superior name recollection skills. I doubt it would have impressed the other parents, but it seems to matter to you.

OP. I gotta tell you, I'm the Queen of taking offense and even I think this is a huge, over-reaction.

She might have laughed because she felt nervous. Laughter is a natural and common response. And even if she truly did not care, you are still overreacting.

So, you're taking time out of your day to complain about this one person, who had a strange response to a question? Do you also post for road rage incidents, and every time the cashier or wait staff is less than perfect? I mean, things happen. I don't think it was this woman's intention to convey she didn't care about a child. I'm sure you've come off as weird or rude when you didn't intend to.

It hasn’t been 8 weeks of constant getting together for hours on end. It has been what maybe an hour or less at a time for practice and games?
