Clark has a lot of strong regional students who didn't get into NESCACs and wanted to be in the area. I think it is underrated. They give good merit aid. It is very inclusive and friendly.

From the Common Data Sets I saw, looks like Gettysburg's average merit aid is $23K (off $74K list price), thereby costing $51K after average merit aid. Clark's is $18+K (off $63K list price), costing $44K after average merit aid. So overall, Clark potentially be the cheaper option.

Clark will give you better internship opportunities: lots of tech jobs around Worcester, east to 495, and further east to route 128. Also, Clark is somewhat liberal but nothing like Wesleyan or Oberlin or anything like that — downright conservative in comparison.

Agree Clark is underrated, partly because it is not classified by US News as a liberal arts school, even though it has only 2,500 students…

My DS is applying to Clark which I think may be a bit underrated actually. The sense I get though is that the student body is very liberal and a bit offbeat, whereas Gettysburg is supposed to be much more conventional, fratty and preppy.

My DS is interested in a particular program at Clark that is highly regarded. We aren’t sure if the vibe there is the right fit.

What kind of vibe are you looking for? Clark has no frats, while Greek life is relatively important at Gettysburg. Clark students have a reputation for being liberal, while Gettysburg was on Princeton Review's list of top 25 LGBTQ-Unfriendly Schools in 2022 (though perhaps no longer).

Gburg is high on my kid's list. Seems to be a great place for learning, small, within 2 hours of home, and they give merit. It's what I'm hoping for but we'll see what DC ultimately does.
