Well, are you under the impression that's the convention? Because I see tip screens WAY more often than that. For example every food truck with an iPad has a tip screen. And you sure as hell aren't invited to come eat in the truck!

I mean it’s not a new business so I don’t think my review would hurt them

YIKES. That's even worse than my first impression.

I don't like the new default of tip screens everywhere (even at Subway) but it really is the new normal. It's messed up to target one business about a tip screen that the people using your reviews probably expect at this point.

OP since you admit you were at fault for having incorrect expectations, it was pretty rude to leave a negative review for a small business which could be quite hurt by it.

Why did you feel the need to leave a bad review when the food was good and you’re the one who had the wrong expectations about what kind of place it was?

I had an experience recently where I went to a place and it wasn’t what I expected at all. My fault for not researching better but let’s say I was a expecting a deli type place (where one could sit down and eat the purchased food) and it was more like a grocery store where you buy stuff and have to leave before you eat it.
It was expensive because of the add ons I was required to purchase, and they asked for 15% or higher tip. I didn’t realize I couldn’t sit down with the food until I paid for it.
I left a review how it’s great food but the experience is basically a rip off with tips expected for who knows what. I received a reply from the owners that sounded like they were very hurt and trying to strike back implying I was clueless and could just refuse the tip.
Now I feel bad. Should I?
