Competitive colleges completely reweigh the GPA to balance between school systems. They're not fooled by grade inflation.

Never heard of this. MCPS does state that the exam is required if you take the class but this does not seem to be enforced.

Honors classes are weighted the same as AP.

Our kid is in an AP (not IB) school. I understand that AP classes are graded on a 5 point scale, not 4. How are "honors" classes graded? Does it make a difference if the school does not offer a "regular" version of a certain class? TIA.
