Not OP but how do you wash your pillowcase? I have allergies and am supposed to wash and dry my linens on hot. The silk pillowcases I have seen say you have to wash them in cold and line dry.

I machine wash my silk pillowcase on cold and then air dry.

I have a silk scrunchie and I loosely gather my hair at the to of my head and make a kind of loose messy bun.

Would you mind going into more detail? I have long 3A curls, and I never can just wake up and not shower before I go somewhere.

How do you do a "pineapple bun"?

I cannot really do second day curls. They don’t look nearly as good no matter what I do. 3A. Shoulder length.

It’s not frizziness but weird curl shape that I found most annoying; my hair is somewhere in the 2c/3a range, and I find that my curls get weirdly bent and look chaotic after sleeping on them when my hair is shorter.

The only way to do it, in my experience, is wash in the morning, which I hate. I also like my hair long, so it’s not a huge sacrifice, but I have had some cute shorter haircuts! But between the weird bed head and needing to get haircuts more often for maintenance, they just aren’t worth it for me.

DP. I haven't had short hair since high school (it ranged from chin length to an inch above my shoulders) and I felt I had to wash it every morning and then let it air dry the first couple periods of the school day. With my hair an inch or two below my shoulders, it's easier not to wash in the morning.

+1. I usually also need some water or steam to perk up the straightened bits in the morning.

Honestly if I have to shower at night, I have to blow dry and straighten it. My hair is between my chin and shoulders when straight and it just looks horrible after sleeping on it curly.

I have curly hair and I have to wash it every morning. Otherwise the curls are frizzed and flattened.

I don't do anything special and my hair never looks better than when I first wake up! It looks worse after I do anything to it.

Silk pillowcase. Pineapple/top of head ponytail. Let down and shake in the morning.

I just sleep and spritz with water and scrunch in a light hold curl cream in the morning.

Apart from implied pun

How do style your hair at night, so you don’t wake up with a tangled mess of a head?

More specifically, short haired people.
I have medium lengthed curly hair and I braid it at night, and that works fine.
I would love to cut it above my shoulders, but I can’t imagine how to keep it from balling up, frizzy and messy in the morning.
Thanks for your tips!
