excellent school with a progressive and inclusive student body - really self selects in this regard. Must commend OP, a very thoughtful approach. On top of that, Lynchburg has consistently improved placement results over the last 10 years and trajectory is solid. To echo a PP, this school is a true hidden gem.

Not every kid wants Duke or Vandy. Well outside of the DCUM at least

3 hours is “a bit of a drive”? Huh, we went there and back in a day without too much trouble. We did the same for Old Dominion recently. Yes, you have to plan a full day, but it isn’t too crazy.

We actually found the drive between nova and Lynchburg pleasant.

We looked at recruitment there, visited twice and kid attended a weekend camp. We liked the school, did not like the town much. Child decided on a larger school. I think the cost was going to be similar to in-state.

My daughter and I visited a couple years ago. It is a bit of a drive.

I like campuses with consistent architecture and a large central area. This is my personal ideal. University of Lynchburg fits this mold. We attended a small gathering of admitted students and they did a nice job of making us feel welcome.

The campus was nice and stately, and is a little bit hilly in places (which I liked). But I felt that it could have been better maintained.

As a nursing student, we were impressed by the fact that they had two cadaver labs…one for PA students and one for the nursing students.

I think your high stats kid will get the maximum merit aid, and combine that with VTAG if you are a Virginia resident.

We ultimately chose Shenandoah. But if my daughter had liked Lynchburg the best, I would have been fine with her choice.

It’s a CTCL school. They are in a consortium with Randolph and Sweet Briar. My child is looking at Randolph and was told that for several of her exercise science classes, they are actually held at Lynchburg. My understanding is that there is a decent amount of interaction between schools-they are about 10 minutes apart.

No experience here but my HS junior and I had a nice conversation with the Lynchburg rep at a recent college fair. He raved about living in Lynchburg. I too would like to hear about experience at the school.

My kid has very good stats and I know many on here would prob be dismissive of their kid going to Lynchburg. But, she would have a lot of opportunities there with the stats she has. (And I did not go to a "prestigious" school and did really well for myself). Plus she'd have a ton of money left over for grad school.

Looking for people who went there recently or whose kids are there and wanting a sense of the experience. Specifically a stem path, grad school admissions from Lynchburg, and, bonus points for the honors college. Thanks.
