Have 1 set of parents who are in their 50's and 60's with a 9 year old

I became a mom at 37 and know several other parents in our social circle in our neighborhood who were the same age or older when they became parents.

However, I also often feel much older that the average age of parents at our elementary school. It seems a lot of people had kids early 30s. It doesn't seem like a big age gap, and I guess it's not, but DH and I really feel it sometimes, because your outlook on life is pretty different between 35 and 43 (my current age).

Its fine to be or feel like an outlier. You are doing things when you can, they did when they could. You'll be fine.

A 56 and 46 couple with a 2 year old.

My PACE group for FTMs had moms from 28 to 43. I think the median was probably 36.

I'd focus on you, and your family unit. Also, ignore the ageism, jealousy etc you may read about here on DCUM -it's weird and that sentiment is not reflective of society in general.

Most men in my circle were in early 30's when they had kids and women in their early 30's or late 20's unless it was delayed due to infertility. Almost every men had their second before 40 and women before 35.

Depends. In wealthier circles "young" moms are having their first at 35 and many moms are having babies at mid 40s or even 50.
That skews downward significantly in less wealthy circles.

Early 40s and we have two elementary aged kids. The younger kiddo has a classmate with mom in her 50s and dad in his 60s.

I'm a preschool and upper elementary age parent. The oldest moms I know are mid-40s. The oldest dads I know are mid-50s, but only of upper elementary kids. I don't know of anyone with a preschooler who's over 50.

You’re definitely not an outlier in DC proper. I’m 39 with a 7 and 4 year old, and most of my friends whose oldest kids are 7ish are 1-5 years older than me. I know a few parents turning 50 this year, but they generally have an older child as well.
