The lead up to all holidays stresses me out. Everything is so overdone. New Years Day is my very favorite because there are zero expectations.

MCPS has no school today, I love it!

Halloween is ok now that I'm in a dark cul de sac nobody bothers to come down. I have a bit of doorbell anxiety!

I hate New Year's and I absolutely detest Thanksgiving.

Time to put up the Christmas tree!

I love Halloween, NYE, Thanksgiving, July 4. A stressful holiday to me is Christmas, or Valentines Day can be a pressure cooker.

Same. 4th of July and Halloween are my least favorite holidays.

This year I was glad though, the kids were out and I stayed home where I could be away from Halloween drama.

OP here and I love Christmas more and more every year. I didn't used to be into it. But we're not religious, don't do a lot of gifts, and don't travel for Christmas. So for us it's just an excuse to put up twinkle lights and a tree, eat cookies, and watch Christmas movies. It would be hard to do a lower key Christmas than what we do, but I like to stretch that low key festive vibe as long as possible to help deal with the increased darkness.

I will probably put up some twinkle lights this weekend with the time change. They are like a fun version of a SAD lamp.

Not me- I love Halloween and the 4th of July. Not a fan of Christmas- find it stressful. Thanksgiving is okay.

I’m actually sad it’s over. I hate the fact that it’s now Christmas for almost 2 months. Halloween feels way more joyful to me than Christmas, which just feels so commercialized and is way for more stressful (for me). However your feelings are totally valid, OP.

Look, I’ve had a couple fits thrown surrounding this holiday. I’m still mad about how the planning up to the event went and I’m over it too. The actual TOTing is not bad, it’s just all of the lead up to the night that stresses me out.

It's one of the few things about parenting I actively dislike. The costumes, the candy, the idiocy of it all happening on a weekday, the unpredictable weather for an outdoor event, figuring out the timing, the social stress of kids figuring out who trick or treat with, etc. I love doing kids birthdays, family holidays, the 4th of July, planning family vacations. I get into the first day and last day of school, and I love the day to day of parenting and getting to watch my kids grow up. But I hate Halloween.

I never say it out loud but the truth is I'm SO HAPPY that I now have 364 days before I have to do it again.

Anyone else?
