School offered Read 180 and we supplemented with Huntington Learning Center focusing on comprehension issues. It was successful.

Lindamood Bell has a program called Visualizing and Verbalizing that was very helpful for my son. We did not go to LMB; I bought the book and did it myself. I'm sure there are tutors out there who could help as well.

The speech language pathologist served as our tutor. Have you gotten a neuropsych evaluation and speech language pathologist evaluation? We received a recommendation for the SLP after doing the neuropsych.

I would also say it is important to get a proper diagnosis to figure out the cause of the comprehension challenges. When my daughter was in third and fourth grade, we spent a lot of money on a reading tutor but it was not the right type of help that she needed, and it wasn’t until after we did the evaluations and dug deeper did we know what she needed.

Where did you find someone that specializes in visualization techniques? Does your tutor only work virtually?

Have you considered working with someone that specializes in visualization techniques? My oldest struggled with comprehension. After working with a regular reading tutor her fluency improved but comprehension was still not there. She was ultimately diagnosed with an expressive/receptive language disorder, and we work with a speech language pathologist that has helped tremendously.

When we first learned of the diagnosis and did not have a tutor, I got a book off Amazon, that was helpful.

What was most helpful for your adhd child with reading comprehension? Our dd is a fluent reader but seems to have trouble with making connections to the text and understanding it at a deeper level. Verbal iq was above average when last tested. Just started meds this year
