Most things have increased in price since 2010…

In my experience in Provo and other islands, one round trip in a taxi is typically the cost of one day of car rental.

What do you mean it’s not hospitable? I found it that way.

Rented a car. Loved driving around. Worth the cost.

Oh wow. Rent a car. And stay on Grace Bay.

Get the car. I have yet to go to a Caribbean Island where a taxi made sense. Many charge per person too, it adds up. And then you have the issue of walking around with a lot of cash.

Taxis are very expensive. They also charge per person in comparison to other islands like the Cayman Islands, Aruba, etc. Private taxis are slightly cheaper; we found a driver toward the end of our stay and we’re able to negotiate with him a little.

If you’re staying in Grace Bay you should be able to walk to most dining, etc. You may have to drive to get to the rum distillery, museums, etc

Depending on your hotel lots of places are walkable.

If you like your first driver, ask if he’d drive you later and how much he charges. I’ve done this every time. He’ll probably have a card and be willing to do a better rate.

OP here. I know hotels often charge more than others - was hoping for some recs of reputable services on here if that's the case!

No those prices are not unreasonable for Provo. You’d be better off just renting a car unless you don’t plan to leave the resort at all.

Turks and Caicos is expensive, especially Providenciales. This is partly why we rented a car (we're not big drinkers, so it wasn't an issue to drive to dinner and back).

$50 for a 10 minute drive sounds about right. I remember hearing that a lot when we were there from other guests and feeling glad we'd rented a car. That said, we stayed at a hotel that was kind of marooned on the other side of Grace Bay and not walkable to anything. So we left 1-2 times a day to do stuff and eat. If you're at Beaches or a mega-resort you'll leave less.

I know the recommendation is to get a car, but we both hate driving and don't want to deal with it on vacation, so we'll be relying on taxis/cars while we're there.
