The "why" essays should focus on specific programs within the academics of the university, specific activities and clubs the applicant may want to pursue etc. Obviously nothing is binding, but the schools want to see where this applicant plugs into their community and won't just be someone who plays video games or hangs out doom-scrolling all day.

I think it's really hard to make a 'why' essay very interesting, especially if they are referencing specific programs, etc.
