Weird. Was the kid crying and needing comfort or actually hungry?
My kid would definitely have to poop after nursing, especially in a warm pool. Just one of the many reasons I wouldnt do that.

+1

It's unusual she didn't step out of the pool but she didn't need to be hidden away from the world!

Moms breastfeed at our neighborhood pool (on the chairs) and I have as well.

In the pool? In the water? She was being ridiculous. Her child should be fed before or she can step out of the water and feed the baby on deck.

I don't care about the breast being seen, but it's gross because it's unhygienic. It would also be so easy to step out of the pool and breastfeed on the sidelines.

Kids peeing in pools is also gross. I don't see them do it so easier to forget about it.

Weird, gross, and attention seeking.

From a public health perspective, breast milk is actually worse than the usual pool contaminants of feces and urine because it can carry HIV. So it’s more like blood from a health perspective. That said, chlorine in pills has been demonstrated to kill HIV and other viruses. So it’s really not a big deal. Yes, it’s super gross to think about anyone peeing or expressing any other bodily fluids in a pool, but the reality is it happens, and no one fluid is really more or less gross.

It sounds more like you have some actual or internalized misogyny and think women shouldn’t breastfeed in public, which is a bigger issue I won’t address.

You need better things to get upset over.

"saw what happened" made me cringe. She was feeding her baby, who cares if you (gasp!) saw her boob for a brief moment.

Also is she supposed to go take a shower before she feeds her kid? calm down.

I don’t care. Are you European? I know other countries are a lot more fussy about pools.

Weird yes, seems unnecessary, but also fine.

It’s fine. Way worse fluids wind up in a pool with babies than breast milk.

I saw a mom standing in the public pool and suddenly breastfeeding her baby (older than 6 months but younger than 1 yr) for a few minutes during parent and me swimming class. The thing is that there were a few kid swimming classes going on at the same public pool at the same time, and many parents sitting across the shallow pool saw what happened. The mom was in bathing suit, and she stood up taking her boob out of her bathing suit making quite a scene that I couldn't help noticing it. I felt a bit embrassing that she did that in the public pool (unhygiene fir baby and others), during the class time, and a bit worried about chlorine toxic for milk.

Is it out of norm that it happen? I immediately looked away when I saw that.
