if you answer yes, you will need to put an explanation for it. In theory it may throw off an officer looking at your application.
While it’s not against the immigration law to vote in local election it seems (or is it?! For a non citizen?) I would never jeopardize my citizenship like that.
Just something to think about.

Interesting. This is a relevant discussion on an immigration forum: https://www.immihelp.com/forum/usa-citizenship/178532-please-help

What’s the current narrative? My husband is a non-citizen and has spent many hours at the DMV taking care of license and registration needs. He could certainly update his voter registration there.

Maybe because it doesn't begin until 2024, the voting forms won't be updated until after this upcoming election day. Just a guess.

That's possible, although adding tens or even hundreds of thousands of voters to the election roll is no mean feat. If non-citizens are going to vote in an election a year from now, they really should have gotten started by now. Yet there has not a peep on this from the DC government after the law was enacted.

OP, this is not a good resource for objective facts. Call your Councilmember or try to find someone in the mayor's office who can talk to you about implementation. No one on this board is going to be able to give you anything other than speculation, most of it uninformed.

As for telling people "do not share your opinion on the merits of this law" -- good luck! While this is a terrible place to come for objective, factual information, everyone here wants to share their opinion on stuff. You can try to stop them but you will not succeed.

No, I’m not interested in your opinion on non-citizen voting and I don’t expect you to be interested in mine. What I am interested in is what has happened to this.

The Council passed the law authorizing non-citizen voting in the mayoral, council, and ANC elections and despite some noise from some Congress-folk, they allowed the law to go into effect. There was a legal challenge but AFAIK there have not been any injunctions to stop implementation.

Despite this, nothing seems to have happened. The forms at the DMV still do not allow non-citizens to put themselves on the voting roll and I’ve seen nothing about it.

Once again, I’m not interested in your opinion on whether non-citizens should be able to vote in local elections, but am interested in whether the law is being implemented and if not, why not.
