I am doing the exact same thing right now- and no one seems to care.

My current company was a good offer (after I had been laid off) but it is not exactly right for me. Four months into this role a recruiter reached out with a great fit role plus it is more money, working with former coworkers and the benefits are so much better. I start the new role next week and I don’t feel guilty about it

The company would have no issues getting rid of you after a short period of time, why should u be any different.

Sure, take the bird in hand and then see how the other plays out, doesn’t matter if you work there one day or 10 years. If something better comes along and the new job can’t beat it then move on. That’s how this game works.

I’ve done it. Didn’t affect me at all one bit. But I changed industries so I’m not in the same industry.

It's poor form, and if it is a small industry I'd be worried about burning bridges, but you gotta do what is best for you.

I have been looking for a new job for over a year and am finally at the offer stage with a good company and it includes a $20k pay bump. The only issue is it’s hybrid, not remote like was my wish list.

I just saw that my dream job has been posted - and I think I have a solid shot at it. It is fully remote and the pay matches the current offer.

Is it bad to accept the offer I have in-hand, but still compete for dream job? There are no guarantees I will get it - but I’d like to try.

I live in a smaller town (not DC), so there is a chance jilting company #1 will impact my reputation/future employment.

Has anyone done this before?

It may require me to start at company #1 and leave shortly thereafter.

It feels yucky to me to even try.

There are government agencies (not companies), if it changes anything.
