Bookstore with comfortable chairs!

My mother owned a store like this decades ago and people still talk about it fondly - very imaginative and eclectic gifts and jewelry from all over before eclectic gifts were popular …

For stumbling across, I always love the ones with the “sassy” tea towels and cocktail napkins and unique necklaces etc

Me running a store vs stumbling across one to browse - totally different answers! For browsing, book/coffee/seeds/plants/organic foods and lower sugar wholesome baked goods mash up store with various nooks for resting and browsing. Also would ideally have nice bathrooms!

Very upscale children’s clothing.

i LOOOOVE bookstore bar-coffee shops. Whenever I walk into one, i feel instantly at home.

A combination of Red Barn Mercantile and Penny Post in Old Town. Love those stores.

I agree with PP - a blend of beautiful little things incl bed and bath products, candles, scarves - maybe just a few really nice pieces of clothing.

I would look at offering a few unique types of products incl specialty pencils, flowers, snacks, textiles, soaps. Maybe throw a few beautiful selection of flatware/party dishes etc. I would want to carry brands that were hard to find in US mostly from overseas. It's my dream job if I ever won the lotto . So everything beautiful and also practical if possible

Flower shop.

When I was younger, it was the kind of shop that carried lovely unneccesary things like stationary, candlesticks, bits of pottery, decorative pillows, cards, etc.

Now I think it would be a farm stand, heavy on the flowers.

If you could open any type of store, or walk somewhere and just stumble across a charming town filled with transporting shops, what would it be/look like?

Bookstore? Florist? Coffee shop?

I'd love a cheese shop or a bath and body type of shop like the one in Practical Magic movie.
