Parent of a college swimmer, I agree that you don't need to pay but it is a nominal fee (under $30, one time). It ranks your swimmer, matches your swimmer and you can get a better sense on what schools will offer you a roster spot by your Power Index. The Power Index is not perfect, but it does assist with ranking swimmers.
