RU grad/PP. Radford might be easy admittance but many find it tough to stay enrolled. Case in point: my freshman year, nearly all freshman were tripled in dorm rooms and were told that this would be temporary. By Fall Break, you remained in a triple only if you decided upon this arrangement!
Again, RU knows their student population very well and plans and markets accordingly.
Eternally grateful that Radford gave this B-, immature, anxiety-ridden, slow learner a chance. It was the only college that accepted me.

well, the GPA for Radford for this program is higher than the direct admit for GMU that just came up

At least this program is public knowledge, on the college's website (as is VCU's direct admit program), easy to find, open to all and admission procedures are the same for all.

At this moment, though, it is back in the mix. I think my noting that they will have a new arts building when she starts helped. I think it is a very viable option and the best mix of classes for the major/minor combo she wants.
For public schools, her options are Radford and ODU. I think she would thrive at either one.
Maybe consider Longwoood too? and if you can consider private there are quite a few in VA - some with better aid packages than others

ANd for nursing especially, it does NOT matter where you go---what matters is the NCLEX pass rate for the school---if the curriculum is rigorous enough to prepare students well, you pass and become a nurse, just like someone who went to an elite school.
So while Radford's NCLEX is a bit low, I'm guessing it's a bit low because of the students admitted, not the curriculum. My 3.6UW HS student had trouble with the core science courses for PT/Kinesiology, so I have to imagine most who managed only a 3.0 in HS might struggle in the nursing curriculum.

This is a smart move. This will mean less work for the admissions committee and possibly scooping up some students who may have gone elsewhere or not attended at all.
I had no help or support for the college process, so I can see how this offering would have been helpful to me way back when.

OP here- this is spot on. I'd like to know if any DC area students will participate if they don't get in at VT, etc.

PP 15:34 to add that I so wish that something similar would have been available when I applied to colleges long ago in the late 1980s.
Benefits those of us who don’t have parental engagement - financial or maybe even disinterest and other barriers to admission.

This is my alma mater; Radford knows their prospective student population very well. I laud them for this initiative. Something similar offered or maybe still is…but “snap” admissions offered onsite by admissions reps during HS visits. I know because my DC was offered admission this way in 2016.
