This. I just keep noise cancelling headphones on all the time. It's still hard to get work done when I have to go into the office.

You need a bunch of appointment reminders that pop up. "Sorry gotta go--meeting." Of course this approach only works if your work is different enough that you could conceivably have different meetings.
In that case, "gotta go--that reminder is for me to <call my proctologist>, <call my kid's teacher>, <take my antipsychotic meds>.
And yeah I think headphones are fine esp if you have open offices.

Is it rude to wear headphones in the office? I have this issue sometimes too with people who just pop into my office and won't leave. If I wear headphones, maybe they will leave me alone!

Yep! Social hour / easier to get some badly needed attention. I usually manage to hide from these types whenever I go in. I have a job to do.

There is one person on my team that every time I’m in a meeting when the, the person leading the meeting says we are done they always say “I have one quick thing” and they talk for 45 minutes. About nothing.
