This is more reflection but happy to hear any reactions
Things I’m glad I did
Start Roth IRA after college and maxed out most yrs since, continue to back door
Moved from crappy 529 target funds to total equities and have been front loading funds when the kids are young
Moved from unaggressive wealthfront allocation to diy/more aggressive on vanguard
Auto savings of masking out retirement accounts
Stick extra funds in brokerage, ibonds, emergency funds
Got married, we will have two gov’t pensions
Regrets
That I missed some great gains in the market when wasn’t being aggressive enough in asset allocation in wealthfront. I didn’t know what I was doing so roboadviser seemed like a good idea. At least it got me started.
Thanks to wealthfront I have all of these random stocks, though most of the $ is now in vtsax.
That I missed some great gains due to crappy target funds in 529 before I switched to total stock (don’t use the target funds…)
Could have had better asset allocation in TSP when we were younger, just should have been more in the C fund instead of giving 35% to S
Kids are way expensive. Just kidding, I’m glad we have them.
