We've thrown away the couple of pieces that we got for our wedding. The chipped and rusted under the chip. Our Staub dutch oven is still great though

My parents are still using the Le Creuset that they got as a wedding present, and they celebrated their 50th this year.

I love my Le Creuset collection. Every piece I have is still in mint condition after several years, and I use them frequently.

Got ours at Aldi almost a decade ago and it’s in perfect condition. And I don’t have a heart attack when someone uses metal to scrape the bits off the bottom. Worst that happens is I drop another $40 on the next one.

I would only buy Lodge, Le Creuset, or Staub. I like the aesthetics of Le Creuset or Staub better but they will all work the same and will last forever.

You can definitely find Le Creuset at HomeGoods/Marshall’s/TJ Maxx. They also have an outlet store in Leesburg. Here’s the Wirecutter article on the best ones: https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-dutch-oven/

Lodge always gets great ratings (as a more affordable option) from various sources (consumer reports, wire cutter, etc).

Can’t speak to other brands, but my Le Creuset is still in perfect shape after 20+ years.

I’m a total cheapskate, but it was worth every penny.

Lodge and Staub are fine.

My Martha Stewart brand Dutch oven scratched and rusted along the edge after about 3 years. My Le Creuset lasted 10, and that was with me not knowing how to properly care for it for a few years. I’m sure it could have lasted longer!

I had a Martha Stewart one off of my wedding registry and it was later recalled for the inside chipping off. I've since gotten a Le Creuset. Both worked pretty much the same, but I'm not worried about my Le Creuset having the same issues as the MS one did.

Apparently Alexa knows I’ve been looking at Dutch ovens and on prime day much of the le
Cruset line was on sale. But I have found cheaper Dutch ovens at World Market, Tjmaxx, and target. I also saw another brand ?heyday? Which has these pretty matte soft colors and also cheaper.

My main question is are all Dutch ovens the same no matter the brand or should I be really investing in one?

Final note- I’m on the hook for thanksgiving and I’d like to treat my mom to braised short ribs.
