Look at ASAE Careers free job site for trade association jobs. Also, individual public affairs/ PR firms PST jobs on their respective sites such as Edelman.
*This thread has much better advice than most threads here and minimal snark.

Nonprofits hire lots of comms and marketing people - often at entry level. Idealist.org has a lot of listings.

I know there was one government affairs shop always advertising for writers on Idealist.org, too.

Not really. Writing is just the smallest part of the job - making and nurturing connections and having good judgment is the real work, and is one of the most irreplaceable jobs, IMO.

Your child should be dealing with career resources at their college. That is their job

Social media coordinator jobs might be a way in? Those are often recent grads.

My large federal agency has a large external affairs office with plenty of lower level specialist type positions. I'd check usajobs too - but that's a whole 'nother topic/mystery.

DC graduated in May with a Communications degree and is looking for a job in PR or Communications but having no luck. They had a few internship in college and are have great writing skills. Some experience w/ political campaigns, writing, social media content/strategy, and research.

Any good places to look - either companies or PR/Comm specific job boards, etc? I'm trying to encourgage them to keep trying but I don't know much about the industry. Prefer DC metro area.
