Top Ballers and Highly Desired players don't pay cover charge to get in the top notch parties.

Not at all true. Schools cannot pay anything to anyone unless it is an offical visit. So no this does not happen. Girls on USYNT pay to go to ID camps.

The Party are clubs/teams at the highest levels.
All top players are already known. They don't need to pay to go to an ID camp.

When you're a Baller, they come for you.

ID camps are great for kids to get a feel for the coaches and possibly tour the school. Showcases are where the colleges will do the bulk of the scoutings. If you are of recruiting age and receive direct communication- think personalized email- from a coach asking you you to attend an ID camp it’s a different story

What's the purpose of college scouts going to the ECNL showcases? If the school pays for the trip and attending the ID camp, I consider it recruitment and the school is truly interested. If you're one of the hundred kids who paid the school to be "seen", how can this be anything but a cattle call?

Is it necessary on the girls side? No. But highly recommended. Ecnl showcase is part of the process but so are I’d camps. Schools do not pay anyone to come to ID camps.

I've been to ID camps with over 150 potential recruits. The school is going to take 1, maybe 2 that they discover in an ID camp, and these are often a kid they encouraged to apply to the camp after scouting them at a tournament or hearing about them from recruiters.

It's really a cattle call and revenue raiser for the school. Sometimes they get a gem out of it, but generally it just pays the bills for the coaches in the off months.

For girls ID camps are a must. Maybe Freshman year is one or two to get a feel for it. If you play ECNL then Sophomore year is key for camps your are interested in and junior year is similar.

It would be odd to end up being recruited and not gone to that Schools’s ID camp. Possible but not likely. Even the girls on the YNT go to camps.

Companies have recruiters on staff to find prospective employees to fill open positions. We don't pay money to apply for jobs as adults.

College coaches have a recruiting budget. If you're spending your own money to apply for a job, do you think you're a serious candidate? Do the serious candidates at the ID camp go for free?

When my daughter was younger, we paid for summer and winter camps. There aren't camps anymore at the older ages. Looks like young kids camp is replaced with ID camp for high school kids. If she wants to to go to ID camps, we'll send her but I don't look at it as applying for a spot on a college team. It's just part of her youth experience with soccer.

Cattle call—there’s a box you check at club registration that gets your kid on these mailing lists. It can be a good experience to go to one that’s close to home and the coaches generally do give feedback, but until your kid is corresponding with coaches once they’re old enough to be recruited, it’s a fund raiser for these programs.

My 9th grade DC has begun receiving "invitations" to ID camps in the mail. It seems they have gone out to a huge number of kids in that age group, so it's not targeted recruiting in any way. Is there any benefit to going to them based on a mailer, or is it just a cattle call?
