Thanks all! I have a child who has sensory sensitivities around food and I’m not into waste, so these responses are very helpful.

+ 1 a quick rinse with a minimal amount of salt for any amount of time works for me

I just learned this, too. A quick rinse afterward does the trick.

I usually soak them in lemon water and don’t need to rinse, but the salt water trick is helpful when I don’t have a lemon in the house!

We do the lemon trick but with orange juice.

Serious Eats did a feature on this and concluded salt water was the best method lemon water actually speeds browning compared to doing nothing. https://www.seriouseats.com/how-to-prevent-apple-pear-browning

As for the taste, a quick rinse in plain water and you’re set

That wasn’t the question.

One or two drops of lemon juice in about 2-3 tablespoons of water will stop the browning and there will not be a sour taste to the apples.

Sounds like you could find out in 10 minutes, OP.

Dilute the lemon juice in water.

I recently learned you can soak apple slices in salt water for 10 mins and they won't turn brown. But do they taste salty? We tried the lemon trick but were too sour for our kids.
