Why should it count? Why would a college care about a random teacher's opinion of their work? The AO can look at the portfolio.
Grades don't matter for art majors.
Using your logic, English grades should not be counted. Who cares about a random teacher’s opinion on writing. An AO can read an essay…

Really? A kid is in to art though not gonna be at art major and the grade ia thrown out of the GPA calculation. Well, not surprised if it ia true but sad that kids who love art as part of their day and week and explores creativity doeant count. Good. the non-academic classes drag the GPA down since you can't take them as honors or AP

FCPS includes everything except P/F classes (assuming you pass; a fail is included). Whether colleges exclude non-core classes in recalculating varies from school to school.

Colleges will recalculate without art classes. My kids to to an Episcopal school and we've been told that they recalculate with the 2 mandatory religion classes as well.

Colleges will calculate a core GPA using their own formulae. Often, they will eliminate some courses from the numbers, but what they eliminate varies from college to college.

Huh? Growing up in FCPS, I remember all classes counting toward GPA. I distinctly remember a C in gym tanking my GPA.

When I was in high school, non-academic classes were not included in your reported GPA: PE, drivers ed, health, woodworking, etc. Is this the case? If not, I'm really surprised at some of these unweight GPA's!
