I would assume someone like this didn’t learn to cook growing up. Often if you don’t have practice cooking when you try the results aren’t as good as mass produced stuff and it’s a lot of effort. So of course they prefer something that a professional has curated and spiced. I’ve been cooking meals for myself and my family since I was 10 so I know how to make foods exactly how I like them and like my own cooking better. But I don’t judge anyone who prefers the convenience and taste of convenience foods.

Some ppl who were picky eaters as children develop avoidant/restrictive food habits when older.

Recently a billionaire came out and said he's never knowingly eaten a vegetable in life. Shrugs. It's not worthy of comment - people are gonna be people, ya know? Maybe they say "bland" because it's easier than to say they are grossed out by x food or whatever. Don't bring it up as a topic of discussion with them.

Even fruit-no fresh fruit. Only out of a can or frozen.

? sarcasm, right?

The only person I know who ate this way was a poor college student. He had horrible acne. When he started to eat more home cooked meals, his skin really improved.

This is why the US has an obesity problem.

I don’t know what a steakum is, nor do I know anyone that eats like this. I would reevaluate your social circle

My 15 yr old ds made the comment that we are an "ingredient" house not a "food" house. Evidently this was a discussion at school lunch one day. When I asked him to try and explain the difference he said that our kitchen is full of things you can use to make meals but we don't have ready made meals. His example is our freezer has lots of frozen meat that I use to make dinner for the whole family and at his friend's house the freezer is full of frozen meals that they each pick from to make for dinner. It was interesting to hear this distinction from a teen. For the record we actually do have many things I consider premade food: cans of soup, boxes of mac and cheese, canned vegetables, frozen fries, etc.

Would love to know what your friend's blood pressure is like. She must ingest so much sodium.

Can’t say I know anyone who identifies that way but most people eat that way.

I mean, if you eat bread, yogurt or cheese or drink wine or beer, you are consuming processed foods and drinks.

I generally only know people who are vocal in the other way. They’re really sort of obnoxious. Like vegans.
