My vote is for you to go alone in a cab or uber.

Don’t pressure your husband to go. If he doesn’t want to be there, he won’t enjoy himself, and he’s liable to make you miserable in return. However, you should do what you want in a way that you feel comfortable with. Don’t drive at night if it’s a problem.

I’d probably just skip unless they were good friends

The important detail is to select costumes which fully respect diversity, equity, and inclusion. Avoid any form of cultural appropriation at all costs.

I’d go alone if I knew my spouse didn’t know anyone and I liked the people enough to want to hang out with them.
In your spouse’s situation I wouldn’t want to go either though.

Halloween is for kids. My DH will put on a clown costume to take our kids trick or treating but that’s his limit.

Could you come up with a subtle costume that could be covered up if he felt uncomfortable? Like one that just involved him wearing a t shirt with something on it, and he could put a shirt over that. (I saw a costume on Pinterest where the couple was PB&J, and each just wore shirts with the logos on them).

I would go. If I really don’t want to go alone, I ask a single / divorced friend to go with me.

I'm no longer married so this comes up a lot (for parties, in general, not just costume parties). I've both gone and skipped. I usually go as long as I'll know at least one person going that I can hang out with to start.

DH would only go if our kids were invited and he could get silly with them. I wouldn’t go alone.

I’d go and use Uber if I didn’t like to drive at night. My DH hates costume parties. Wear a sexy French maid outfit and he might suddenly change his mind.

I’ve been invited to two parties with costume wearing encouraged. I know the host/guests from organizations I’m involved with. My husband has no interest in going because he doesn’t know any of the people and doesn’t want to look like a “clown”. I’m not going to push him to go and he’s told me to go on my own or to hire someone in a mummy costume to go with me and fake being my husband. I think he was kidding. Would you go on your own or just skip it. I think it could be fun but I’m not thrilled going alone plus I don’t like driving after dark due to an eye problem. Would you go alone? Would your husband be willing to go?
