Agree but WR is federally funded so it’s not like it’s taking away from that. Someone needs to set up a non-profit so active duty and dependents can actually get medical care. If one more person tells me how lucky I am we get “free” medical care, I might lose my shit.

People, this is not the medical facility. It's the legacy facility that sat vacant for decades and is being turned into a residential/commercial development. The Parks at Walter Reed in DC, not Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda.

Yes, we're all aware given that most of us who responded get our care (or don't get our care as the case may be) from military facilities. This does not change my response. What is your point?

My point is that it is not a Ramen restaurant's job to fund veterans services. Your complaints are completely misplaced on this thread.

Given the thread is encouraging people to eat here because of a promotion to fund a veterans organization, it's really not. I was not the poster who first posted that this organization benefits a select few, but they are correct. They are using the military as a promotion to get people to eat here, so it's a valid comment.

You are missing the point. Things were much better when it was two seperate facilities. Now they expanded the facility but got rid of tons of staff and majority of the real WR sits empty and those of us who use it cannot get appointments let alone medical care. I'd rather have quality medical care over a golf program.

And, retirees. The free medical care sucks. It take months to get a primary care appointment, and getting into a specialist is a nightmare. It easily takes an hour to call into the appointment line. And, after waiting months, you often see a resident and not the doctor you are schedule for. They don't even have specialists for basic medical conditions and they primary care refuse to treat anything that they deem should go to a specialist. It's an absolute nightmare and WR is at its all time worse. Oh, and don't get started on the pharmacy.

This program serves a few veterans and that's it. Jinya is using it for free advertising.

Ma'am, this is a Wendy's.

At least WR has a Wendy's.

It looks like a portion of their proceeds from the new Walter Reed restaurant will go to supporting a veteran's non-profit. Everyone and their pets should stop by for a bowl of ramen when they open (Oct 16). The campus is HUGE.

In the spirit of giving back, JINYA Ramen Bar is proud to announce our support for the SMGA (Salute Military Golf Association), dedicated to enhancing the lives of post-9/11 wounded war veterans through rehabilitative golf programs and inclusive family golf experiences.
