Isn't that kind of a faux pas?

Why? I do the same. I’d rather the kid have something they enjoy.

Homemade card and $20.

I don’t like to waste money and I’m not spending money on a gift that will be ignored or re-gifted, or a gift card that might get lost.

No one re-gifts a $20 bill or loses it, or puts it in a drawer and forgets to spend it. No one is disappointed to open an envelope and see $20 bucks inside it.

Pokémon figures in the poke balls are universally liked by everyone.

Slime kits

Tie dye kits

Sidewalk chalk kits (depending on time of year)

Mostly, I take my cue from the party theme. If it’s a Harry Potter party I’ll bring something related. If it’s a mermaid party, same deal.

I don't buy Rainbow Loom because it's a lot of plastic bits.

Legos. There are always nice Lego City kits for $15-20.

Yeah, we would donate or re-gift Legos too. I'm fine with anything except if it requires a lot of parent help.

We re-gift Legos. Neither of my kids are into them. DD is in 2nd grade and her favorite gift this year was two pretty bookmarks.

I give Legos and don't include gift receipts. I never bother exchanging a ~$25 duplicate or unwanted gift (I will regift or donate) and assume others are the same.

I try to do art/craft kits or games (vs. toys). Legos sometimes. I do include gift receipts.

I often give legos for both girls and boys.

I’m running out of ideas! Any suggestions for best gifts to give for a classmate whole class party? And do you tend to include gift receipts or just assume they can regift?
