Normal yes. We have a mix of really good responsive teachers and a few really bad.

Admin also try to get double overtime out of teachers without paying them. I remember I was pushed and worked 70-80 hrs per week grading and subbing nonstop. I was a good employee and did as I was told and wrote in 40 hrs per week on my time sheet. I was non renewed. Teachers in the US are simply not valued in the money making complex we call education.

OP some schools give teachers a grading deadline. I think at our middle school it was 2-3 weeks. You should ask your school administration about this.

Sadly this probably will cause more of a shortage and downward spiral because teachers will have to defend themselves against vindictive principals who will want to know why they are getting calls from parents about lack of feedback. Many principals want their cake and eat it too out of teachers and they don't care about contracts and supporting teachers. They just care about blaming the teachers when parents inquire about the poor educations recieved.

Thank you for letting people know. I think this will help parents me be more understanding that this situation is not teachers' faults.

We found that it can be a school by school issue too.

DD's principal was really strict about teachers responding to emails. Every parent I know said the teachers got back to them within 48 hours and usually within the same day. We moved and then the next school's admin team seemed to have no power over the teachers and some would go the whole semester without responding to anyone and complaints to the assistant principal went nowhere.

The teachers that do this are lazy and disorganized. You can speak to the assistant principal about it if you want to talk to anyone who can kick their asses.

Sometimes if your kid checks canvass some of the grades will show there.

Agreed

I don’t understand why it happens tho. My kid has also been in situations where they are taking the next test and don’t know the grade of the previous test

Teachers also do not hand back the tests and don’t review the test so the kid doesn’t know what they did wrong and how to correct in the future. It sucks!

A few of our child's teachers haven't graded anything since the first two weeks of high school so we have no idea how she is doing. We are new to the school district due to a move and she is in 10th. Is this normal?
