JCrew and Anthropologie. But they won't have them in stock, you will have to order them. I go to Anthro and see if I fall in love with anything, and then look online to see if they have it in my size.

Definitely Talbots. They have a large women's (plus size) section and even their regular fit runs quite large.

Macy’s has a decent selection in the larger misses-smaller plus sizes if you have the time to dig through the various departments.

I like the website Eshakti, because you can save your measurements to the account, and they'll make the clothing tailored to you. I get compliments everytime I wear something I've ordered from them.

The Macy's in Tysons has a fairly large plus-size section. I've bought a lot of clothes there over the years.

That is a tough size, I empathize!
I don’t know how ED recovery works but the most important thing will be having her measurements so you can compare them to the size charts. There’s a lot of variation in sizing where the regular meets the plus chart, and that’s where she is. So maybe you can help her with that if she doesn’t want to know her measurements right now. If you use measurements and size charts, ordering online will be a lot easier/more successful.
It’s also true that sometimes the XL is like, an S that’s been let out, but the 1X has different proportions and might be better even if you need to have it tailored a little. For example I just tried a Kut from the Kloth jacket and the XL had comically small pockets. I don’t think they change the pockets from XS-XL. But then the 1x plus version was pretty much the same size but with bigger pockets/better proportions. So that can really add to the overall size anxiety because of the psychology of being in a “straight size” vs a “plus size.”
The other big factor will be her height, because if she needs a tall size that also narrows the options.

DD 22 is between sizes 16W and 18W and she needs both business casual clothing that will be work for job interviews as well as casual clothing. Grateful for suggestions for great places to look for clothing that will fit her well. Is there anywhere in the DC/Maryland/NoVA area that might have items in stock? Or any on-line options that you'd recommend? (Please don't suggest weight loss - she is in eating disorder recovery and that's not the focus right now.)
