Yeah it has been really annoying. Only one area dealership said they will sell at MSRP but they haven't had any in stock.

Bought a car recently and dealers were sharing that the model of having lots of cars on the lot is ending. So you either order and wait and pay at least msrp or take your chances with seeing what comes in/what they have. We still got a decent deal with end of model year and end of the month, but it’s harder to get a deal these days.

Unfortunately. There isn’t much wiggle room. Your best bet is to secure your own financing at a percentage rate you’re comfortable with, keep the dealership in the dark as long as possible about what you’re approved for, and negotiate a number keeping financing/monthly payment out of the equation. Also don’t tell them you have a down payment until the absolute very end.

Yes pretty close to MSRP especially for Toyotas, Hondas, etc. Less popular cars you may be able to get a discount on.

I’m going to buy a car next month. My car is 10 years old and I want a new one. I know during the pandemic paying at or over MSRP was the thing to do and waiting for a car to be ordered was too. Are we still doing that?
