I like to think of them more along the lines of VWs. They're ubiquitous, they're decent cars, but the brand is so tarnished that I'd never even consider one

Yes. Musk has trashed his brand. He’s also trashed X/Twitter.

They also have the generic styling of a Corolla, good analogy there.

Oh that’s a good comparison. They are so ubiquitous now, so in that sense, yes. Sometimes when I’m driving I’ll see 3 white Teslas in a row, followed by a red one.
