An Uber from their house to ours would be about $20. We live in the midwest.

That’s quite reasonable. And if they going to be a little too much for you, you can suddenly start feeling unwell and need to go home.

That said, I am a pre school teacher and I wouldn’t want to deal with more little kids on my time off. So I understand where you are coming from. You have my blessing to cancel though I don’t think I would. I would just drink extra at dinner.

It's rude but understandable that you don't want to spend the evening with someone else's brats that are only cute to family members. Do it now. The earlier the better.

Our friends invited us to dinner at their house, roughly 20 miles away, and we always collaborate on meals. I have 4 t-bones I need to use that I'll bring, made brownies, etc.
She texts me today that they have their 3 grandsons overnight now, but still want us to come. She originally thought they'd go to other grandparents this afternoon.
H and I are thinking of canceling. It's Friday, I'm a teacher who has spent the week with littles, and we just want to relax.
